Be Her Hope to Break the Cycle
2025 Recovery Appeal
Behind Every Statistic is a Woman Who Needs Hope
1 in 4 Australian women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. But here's what most people don't know - the majority of these women never get the support they need to truly recover and rebuild their lives.
Meet Sarah: Imagine a powerhouse corporate executive who once commanded boardrooms, forced to flee with her child, terrified, to a rundown apartment. Behind closed doors her husband had systematically dismantled her through words and financial abuse. She was a shadow of her former self, until she found us at the Women's Resilience Centre.
Sarah represents what we call "The Missing Majority" - women who escape domestic violence but never receive formal recovery support. They hide with family and friends, struggle to find jobs, face poverty, and often end up back in abusive situations because they never had the chance to truly heal and rebuild. Today, Sarah is thriving. She has rebuilt her career, regained her confidence, and most importantly, broken the cycle of abuse for her children.
The Problem: The Missing Majority. The heartbreaking reality: 5 out of 10 women experiencing abuse never receive formal support, 8 out of 10 women never report their abuse to police and 9 out of 10 women never access shelter services. The cycle continues because while we excel at crisis response, there's insufficient funding for the recovery support that helps women rebuild permanently.

That's where we come in. Our Mission: Resetting and Rebuilding Lives. The Women's Resilience Centre is Australia's national recovery service. While crisis services focus on immediate safety, we focus on sustainable recovery that breaks the cycle for generations.
Last year alone, we've supported: 507+ women and families across 160+ communities throughout Australia, launched 7 new online programs accessible anywhere in the country, created national lived experience mentoring connecting women with others who've walked the same path and opened The Resilience Circle - our frontline community support hub.
Why This Matters Right Now - Recovery is prevention. When we help women like Sarah rebuild her life with dignity and strength, we're not just healing individuals, we're protecting their children and breaking cycles of trauma that can span generations.
In 2024, 78 women were killed due to domestic violence in Australia - a 22% increase from 2023. The cycle continues because we focus on crisis, not recovery.
Your donation funds the missing piece in Australia's response to domestic violence: comprehensive, long-term recovery support that prevents women from returning to abusive situations, breaks generational trauma, and gives them the tools to build lasting safety and independence. Without this support, women often cycle back into dangerous situations because they lack the foundation to move forward permanently.
Our Comprehensive Support Includes: Trauma-sensitive client care management with personalised recovery plans, Skills rebuilding programs covering employment, financial literacy, parenting, and emotional wellbeing, Lived experience mentoring from women who've successfully rebuilt their own lives and National accessibility through secure online programs reaching every corner of Australia.
Be Her Hope to Break the Cycle. Every woman deserves the chance to rebuild her life with dignity, strength, and hope. Your gift today creates pathways to lasting recovery and helps break cycles of abuse for generations to come.
Our goal is $50,000 - a significant step toward reaching our target of supporting 600 women this year to receive a full year of comprehensive recovery support across Australia, with programs tailored for each woman that address every aspect of rebuilding a life after trauma.
Together, we can transform women's recovery across Australia.
All donations are tax-deductible and go directly to funding recovery programs. Thank you for being part of their recovery journey.
